I am soooooo excited to share that we are expecting baby #2 this August! We will be a family of four, can you believe it? It still feels surreal to me, but I feel ready, WE feel ready including Emma! Steve and I both knew we would have another and we planned to have a longer gap between our first child and our second. Last year has been very eventful for our family. I started a new job/career, we sold our beloved first home and purchased another in the neighborhood of our first choice. We were preparing ourselves to grow our family. I am a planner and always will be and while there’s never the perfect time to get pregnant, we felt like this was the best time for us. Plus, Em has been asking about having a sibling for a while now (she is team baby sister and maybe the only one on that team, just saying! LOL).
I found out I was pregnant the day after Thanksgiving. And like I did when I got pregnant with Emma, I wanted to surprise Steve in a special way (click here for how I surprised Steve with Em’s pregnancy). I wanted to incorporate Em into the surprise and it became Em and my secret for an hour or so. 🙂 When I told Em that I was pregnant and growing her little sibling inside my belly, her face beamed with happiness. I got her a “Best Big Sister” shirt and we went to wake up Steve. Em whispered in his ears, “Daddy, I have a surprise for you. I’m going to be a big sister.” What a way to wake up in the morning! Am I right? Haha! He was confused for a sec and immediately hugged me for a long time. I think he shed a couple of tears but I’m sure he will forever deny it. LOL.
I am currently 12 weeks and I am just now starting to feel like myself again. I plan on documenting my second pregnancy on the blog like I did with my first. I had initially planned on doing weekly bump photos as well, but that did not happen. #secondpregnancyproblems. BUT I do want to document it. So while it may not be as frequent as I did with my first pregnancy, you will see pregnancy updates on the blog going forward.
How is Em doing with the news? She is LOVING it! She is super excited and so sweet about the baby. She pats and kisses my belly all the time and she always double checks that I am eating for the baby. When we went Black Friday shopping, she wanted to pick out clothes for the baby. How cute is that?! She also told her entire pre-school class about the baby when she went back to school after Thanksgiving break. Coincidentally the class was talking about different family units and she blurted, “I have my mommy, daddy, then there’s me and a BABY!” I mean seriously, too cute. I cannot wait to see how she is with the baby. She is going to be the best sister ever!
So there you have it y’all! Stay tuned for the upcoming first trimester pregnancy update, it’s been a ride!
