One of my 2019 goals is to decorate our home. This summer marks three years of moving into our house and I am still struggling with house decor. And for an interior design newbie like me, I need to spend time learning about what that entails and find my style. I’ll be the first one to tell you that I don’t know any style jargon like mid-century modern (I had to look this up). I just browse through Pinterest and pin endless inspirational ideas and get super overwhelmed on where to start. This might be ironic because I enjoy blogging but coming up with content for my blog and IG takes major creative efforts. Do not be fooled, while blogging is a creative outlet for me, I have to try really hard to use that part of my brain and to think outside the box. With that said, house decor is one and the same for me. I have to try extra hard to make things happen. I envy those with a vision and execution comes easy.
One thing I learned is that it takes patience and time. And when feeling overwhelmed, focusing on one area at a time helps so much. If you are anything like me who just needs everything to come together all at once, it’s a hard concept to digest. But focusing on one area at a time gives me less anxiety to make my house look prettier.
Alas, the area I chose was my living room wall for a gallery wall. I chose a small space (baby steps!) and tackled that first. My husband took amazing pictures from his backpacking trip in October, and I wanted to showcase those pictures.
I teamed up with Frame It Easy to make my vision come true. Frame It Easy is an online custom frame shop with quality frames that are affordable and super easy to customize! You can choose to print your own photos or upload your photos to have Frame It Easy print them for you. If you choose the latter option, your frames arrive ready to hang!
Designing the frames through the website is very straight forward in easy steps.
Step 1: Your Art Size
Choose the width and height of your art and upload photo if you’d like Frame It Easy to print them for you. We did 9 x 9 art size.
Step 2: Frame Styles
There are variety of frame styles you can choose from including wood and metal with different styles and colors. I loved the wide range of options for colors. We chose Natural Oak Wood frames. I am trying my hand at modern farmhouse style for my home, so Natural Oak Wood frames were the winner.
Step 3: Mat Options
Once you chose the art size and frame style, you have the option of matting. You have the option of no mat, single mat and double mat. We opted out for matting since our art size is on the smaller scale. It was nice to have different options for matting.
Step 4: Cover
Last designing step is to choose the cover. All of their covers are clear acrylic which look and act like glass, but are safe and easy to ship. I especially love this since we have a toddler. I don’t have to worry about glass shattering in the middle of our living room. A huge relief if you are a mom like me! For the cover, there are two options – clear and non-glare. I chose clear; however, I would choose non-glare next time as my wall faces a window. A rookie mistake. 😛
Once you design the frame in easy 4 steps mentioned above, your frames will be custom made and shipped to your door in no time! Their packaging was very sturdy and extra protective, and all of the frames came with nail and hanger. I’m telling ya, when they say frames arrive at your door ready to hang, they aren’t lying!
I thoroughly enjoyed working with the company and the ease of custom designing the frames on their website exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a no-fuss, affordable but quality custom frames, give Frame It Easy a try!
