(Super delayed post as her birthday party was 6 months ago :P)
One of the first things we envisioned when we first toured our new house was having tons of backyard parties. So it’s no surprise we hosted a big gathering as soon as we moved in for Em’s 4th birthday party. She was (still is) very much into everything fairies/unicorn so it was natural to do a Woodland Fairy themed party for her in our backyard. I would be lying if I said hosting a 50 person party at our house two weeks after moving in is a piece of cake. Steve immediately didn’t think it was a good idea but stubborn me pushed through. The world works in its mysterious ways because the initial party date was pushed back another two weeks. Em woke up that morning with Hand Foot Mouth disease. Ha! While Hand Foot Mouth (our first) was awful, I’m so glad to have had another two weeks to prepare for the party.
As always, I wanted to DIY most of the party decor including desserts so Pinterest I went! My girlfriend actually helped me a lot with the dessert table and party decor, so she gets all the credit! There were Fairy land mushrooms, Pixie dust popcorn, Fair pretzel wands, Pixie dust, and wafers sprinkled with pixie dust. 🙂 It was a simple dessert table but it turned out great!
And because kids need to burn lots of energy, we had a few different activity stations: arts & crafts to make your very own fairy wands, scavenger hunt in the backyard, bounce house, and painting our garage wall! We actually got the idea to have a mural wall in our garage from our friends and thought it would be the perfect “house initiation”. 😉 Because we had just moved in, our garage was relatively empty so we took advantage of it and the kids had tons of fun!
And that’s a wrap for another birthday party under our belts. We had a themed birthday party every year that we DIY’ed. Pretty proud that we continued on for the past four years. Check out the previous ones (didn’t do a blog post for 3rd Animal themed party) – 1st Dohl birthday & 2nd Moana birthday. Due to the move and the chaos, we only grabbed phone pictures this time so the photo aren’t the best but hope you enjoyed nonetheless. Until next year..err, in 6 months. 😉
