Ever since Em could talk, she loved singing and so naturally dancing followed suit. Dance parties are frequent in this household. 😉 We asked her what extra curricular activities she’d like to partake in and she chose dance. So we enrolled her in beginner’s dance/ballet. She learned ballet techniques and loved her weekly classes. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, the last few months of her dance school was virtual. Nonetheless, she had a blast participating in live Zoom classes with her teachers and classmates. Her dance school, Academy for the Performing Arts did an amazing job with engaging kids and practicing for their recitals via Zoom classes. I was super impressed!
While I was sad that her first recital (June 20, 2020) could not be held on an actual stage as planned, it was well adjusted to adhere to social distancing guidelines. We felt comfortable and the dance school took all the right protocols and measures to ensure everyone’s safety while making it special for the kids. We had an option to participate and we are so glad we did because Em was beaming the entire time. She was so excited about her recital costume and performance. Her class performed their dance to “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles, and she killed it! So proud of my little girl!
I’m not sure when it will be safe enough to return to normal dance classes again (hopefully soon), but you bet there will be more dance recitals in her future!
