Have you seen the IG Reels and memes of moms wanting to be left the F alone on Mother’s Day? Couldn’t be more true now being a mom of two. LOL. But of course, our little wild baby got sick so the day I get to not answer to anyone had to wait another year, maybe.
In all seriousness though, my first mother’s day as a mama of two was really good despite Theo being sick. Steve and I had planned for a relaxing day – take outs (the kitchen is closed on mother’s day according to Steve. Good man), take Theo’s (always delayed) monthly photo, pool, and take mother’s day pictures. All seem very simple but between baby’s naps and schedule, you won’t believe how much coordination those tasks entail. 😛 It was a win that we got to do all except for mother’s day pictures. We had promised Em we’d take her to the pool as our neighborhood pool opened this past weekend. Thankfully Theo was feeling a bit better after a long afternoon nap, he went for a stroller ride and snacked by the poolside with Steve while Em and I splashed in the water. Emma is joining the swim team this summer so she was super eager to start logging in pool time in preparation for her first swim season.
We did end up taking mother’s day photos two days later, and I am obsessed with them! Kudos to Steve for capturing these moments with my babies. I don’t brag about Steve much but he really is a man of many talents! Speaking of Steve, he surprised me this year with a necklace. If you don’t know Steve, he is a practical gift giver, usually electronics that he thinks I need. He’s never gotten me jewelry except for my engagement and wedding rings. So you can imagine my shock when he handed me a jewelry box with a personalized gold bar necklace from Once Upon a Stamp, very fitting for mother’s day gift and also in line with my taste. Job well done, Babe!
A low-key mother’s day was just what we needed in our current chaotic state. Theo ended up having a double ear infection, a week after starting daycare. Welcome to daycare! 😛 Anyway, am glad he was able to get some rest at home too. The rest of this month will be busy for us with lots of visitors. Steve and I are both fully vaccinated so we are slowly easing back to normalcy with accepting vaccinated visitors. It’s been so long, excitement is a huge understatement. I know I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but THANK GOD for vaccines! It saves lives, people! Anyway, this was a random, out of order post. I still have a list of blog posts I want to publish which happened way before mother’s day. Ideally, I would have posted chronologically because you know, OCD. But I wanted to log this special day in my life, my first mother’s day as a mama of two! Until next time!
